The family Rodriguez,
mother, father, four daughters and two sons have dedicated their entire
lives to giving the best free education possible to the poor children
of Esperanza, Trujillos largest barrio. Together they have founded a total
of four free private schools for poor children
in the Trujillo area. Three were turned over to the local communities
in which they served and the fourth and largest, El Señor de
Los Milagros has operated in northern Esperanza since 1960.
Today father, Jose Rodriguez, at 85 is still very much
in charge of the day to day operations of Trujillos largest free private
school. Mrs. Rodriguez passed away 20 years ago. The children have all
remained single in order to dedicate all their time to serving their children,
they constitute the entire faculty of the Free School.
In
2001 Bruce Peru and ESDLM joined forces to better serve the children
of Esperanza. Bruce has already built a new wall and roof in the junior
part of the school, and has donated and lent money to the Rodreguez family
in connection with the school.
