Latin America has more children living in the street, percapita, than any place else in the world. We have the privilege of befriending
a growing number of these dear abandoned young people. And as we get to know them we work to reintegrate them back into their natural families; for this certainly is the ideal solution to their desparate existance. In many cases, however, it is either impossible or else highly unfair to the children to force them to return to their natural parents. We are providing these children education, food and clothing ; and for some of them we find places in the better shelters in the Trujillo area. Our first facility is right on the campus of Majon University (Bruce Peru). We have named it "Albergue Nicole D´Amecourt" in honor of someone who has worked with us for over 25 years and whose tireless generosity has helped needy children in many parts of the world.
We hope to be able to open many more such facilities in the coming years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note, as from early 2003 we stopped receiving resident Street Childrenand orphans due to the open nature of our campus. Through the good efforts of our social workers and psychologists we have managed to reintegrate a number of our resident children back into their natural families; following satisfactory rehabilitation of the families. For our children who have no families or come from unsafe homes we have been working with several closed shelters and orphanages in Trujillo to transfer our resident children, and refer others to these cooperating institutions.These include Hogar San Jose, Hogar De Cristo, Hogar De Esperanza and Aldea Infantil De Santa Rosa.. Our next resident facility is expected to be the Delicias Shelter for pregnant adolescent rape victims.
